URBANA, IL — No. 23 Texas Tech will begin its quest for a fifth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance Monday at the NCAA Urbana Regional, hosted by Illinois at Atkins Golf Club.
The Red Raiders are among 13 teams competing at the regional, with the top five advancing to the NCAA Championships later this month in Carlsbad, California. The 54-hole event will be contested Monday through Wednesday in a 5-count-4 stroke play format on the par-71, 7,533-yard layout.
Texas Tech enters the tournament ranked No. 23 nationally by Scoreboard Powered by Clippd and No. 24 in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll. The Red Raiders will be paired with No. 14 Illinois and No. 26 Long Beach State for the opening round, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. CDT off hole No. 10.
Head coach Greg Sands will choose five starters from a roster that includes Charlie DeLong, Connor Graham, Ben Gregg, Sean Keeling, Calum Scott, and Tim Wiedemeyer. One will serve as an alternate.
The field features top-seeded Oklahoma State (No. 2 nationally), along with North Carolina (10), host Illinois (14), and other nationally ranked teams such as UNLV (35) and Houston (38). Ten individuals not affiliated with advancing teams will also compete for one individual qualifying spot.
Freshman Connor Graham has led the Red Raiders this season with a 70.7 scoring average and was recently named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team after finishing T-7th at the conference championship. Seniors DeLong and Scott, both veterans of postseason play, are also expected to play key roles in Tech’s lineup.
A practice round is scheduled for Sunday, followed by 18-hole rounds each day from Monday through Wednesday. Live scoring and tee times are available via TexasTech.com.
The NCAA Championship will be held May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
