LUBBOCK, TX — Robin Villeneuve belted three home runs and drove in seven runs as Texas Tech closed out its home schedule in dominant fashion Tuesday, cruising to a 16-4 run-rule victory over Abilene Christian in eight innings at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
Texas Tech (19-30) scored in six of eight frames and launched five home runs on a windy afternoon, marking its first run-rule win since a 21-3 rout over ACU in April 2024. The Red Raiders improved to 7-0 in their last seven meetings with the Wildcats (29-20).
Villeneuve, who became the first Red Raider since Kevin Bazzell in 2023 to hit three homers in a game, also scored three runs and delivered the walk-off blast in the bottom of the eighth to cap the victory. Logan Hughes added his 18th homer of the season and finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. He extended his on-base streak to 35 games.
Damian Bravo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, three stolen bases and three runs, while Hughes, Coleman Ryan and Peyton Schulze each added RBI contributions as Tech racked up 13 hits and eight stolen bases.

Texas Tech jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, highlighted by Bravo’s RBI double and Villeneuve’s first three-run shot. ACU cut the lead to 4-2 in the second on a two-run homer by Grant Watkins, but Tech answered with runs in each of the next three innings to pull away.
The Red Raiders led 10-3 entering the seventh and matched ACU’s lone run in the frame with a leadoff homer from Bravo. Villeneuve’s walk-off three-run shot in the eighth put the game away.
Texas Tech will conclude the regular season with a three-game Big 12 series at BYU, beginning Thursday night in Provo. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. CT.
