One Killed, One Injured in Head-On Collision in Hale County

 

HALE COUNTY, TX — A 20-year-old Plainview man was killed and another driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash early Saturday morning on State Highway 194, approximately a quarter mile northwest of County Road O.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at around 2:40 a.m. when a 2017 Ford Mustang traveling southeast on SH 194 crossed into the northwest lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Ford F-150.

The driver of the Mustang, Jorge Cervantes, was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS officials confirmed he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the F-150, identified as 29-year-old Christian Villegas of Dimmitt, was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries.

Conditions at the time of the crash were clear and dry. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
