LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock's 23rd annual Memorial Day service was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26, at the Historic City of Lubbock Cemetery to honor the lives of military veterans.

Retired Texas Supreme Court Justice Phil Johnson spoke at the event, and the ceremony also featured music from Jeannie Barrick of the Lubbock Symphony, including the National Anthem and “God Bless America.”

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard presented the colors and performed a 21-gun salute, followed by the playing of TAPS. That video is below:

The Nancy Anderson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in partnership with the cemetery, hosted the event at the gazebo near the cemetery office at 2011 E. 31st Street.

More than 2,000 veterans are buried at the Lubbock Cemetery.
