GARZA COUNTY, TX — A Lubbock man was killed Monday afternoon after falling from the flatbed of a moving truck on State Highway 207, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of SH 207 and County Road 120. DPS says a 2019 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound when a passenger, identified as Joshua Mendoza, 45, fell from the flatbed while removing traffic control equipment. Mendoza was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver, Crystal Palma, 36, of Lubbock, was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
Another passenger, Jose Botelo, 41, of Anton, was also riding on the flatbed but was not injured. He was not wearing a seatbelt either.
Weather and road conditions were clear and dry, and the posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.
DPS continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
