SANTA CLARA, CA — No. 18 Texas Tech Soccer will hit the road again Thursday night for its first-ever meeting with Santa Clara, continuing a strong start to the 2025 season.
The Red Raiders (2-0-0) will face the Broncos (1-1-0) at 9:30 p.m. CT at Stevens Stadium at Buck Shaw Field. The game marks the first matchup between head coaches Tom Stone and Jerry Smith, who have been longtime friends dating back to Stone’s Colorado club soccer days.

Graduate student defender Chloe Japic will also get a homecoming of sorts, as the Palo Alto native grew up less than 20 miles from Santa Clara’s campus.
Texas Tech enters the weekend after back-to-back wins over San Diego State and Youngstown State, where the Red Raiders combined for eight goals. Defender Macy Blackburn and forward Taylor Zdrojewski earned Big 12 Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week honors, bringing the program’s total to 20 weekly awards since 2023 — the most in the league.
The Red Raiders also continue to showcase one of the nation’s top defensive units, having posted 26 clean sheets since 2023. Tech is unbeaten in its last seven regular-season road matches and carries a six-match road winning streak into Thursday.
Following Santa Clara, Tech will remain in the Bay Area to face San Francisco on Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium.
