LUBBOCK, TX — No. 21 Texas Tech hosted Oregon State at Jones AT&T Stadium on Saturday, September 13. Originally scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m., a 2-hour lightning delay forced the game into the late afternoon. Despite the weather, Texas Tech's hot streak continued as the Red Raiders dominated the Beavers to claim a 45-14 victory.
First Half
It took two possessions, but the Red Raiders eventually struck first. Morton loaded up and launched a deep pass to Coy Eakin. Eakin hauled in the 39-yard touchdown to put the Red Raiders up 7-0.
Another quick turnaround by the relentless Texas Tech defense led to a 61-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Douglas—his first of the 2025 season. Later in the 2nd quarter, Tech would get on the board again. On a drive where a holding penalty backed Texas Tech up to a 1st and 25 at Oregon State's 30-yard line, J'Koby Williams hauled in a short screen pass, weaved his way through traffic, and scored a touchdown. Tech led 21-0 midway through the 2nd quarter.
An interception on defense led to one more score before the half. Terrance Carter Jr. pushed the Red Raiders inside the 5-yard line before Williams scored from three yards out a play later. Tech led at the half, 28-0.
The big story in the first half had to be how dominant Texas Tech was on defense. They allowed a few more yards than in the previous weeks, but kept Oregon State far away from the goal line. Including the interception by Bryce Pollock, the front seven made former Texas Longhorn Maalik Murphy's life a nightmare in the pocket. The Red Raiders sacked Murphy three times in the first half, and pressure forced errant throws more than a half dozen times.
Second Half
The Red Raiders picked up where they left off in the first half with another quick score on the opening drive. Morton lofted a deep pass in the corner of the endzone for Carter Jr. Tech's tight end hauled in the pass for a 29-yard score.
Oregon State drove the ball deep into Texas Tech territory on the ensuing possession, but Pollock continued to have himself a game with an outstanding interception inside the 10-yard line. Tech thanked its defense with a 12-play, 94-yard drive that ended in a field goal.
The Red Raiders scored again early in the 4th quarter to end Morton's night. After driving the length of the field, Cameron Dickey scampered into the end zone for a 4-yard rushing touchdown. Tech led 45-0 midway through the 4th quarter when the starters exited the game.
Oregon State finally showed signs of life when all of Texas Tech's backups came into the game. The Beavers managed two touchdowns on their final two drives to get on the board. Tech kneeled out the remainder of the clock inside two minutes and claimed victory, 45-14.
The No. 21 Texas Tech Red Raiders hit the road next week when they travel to Salt Lake City to play Utah.
