Former Coronado Mustang Earns Big 12 Player of the Week Honors

IRVING, TX — The Big 12 released its weekly award winners on Monday, and a Lubbock native made that list. Sawyer Robertson, quarterback for the Baylor Bears and a former Coronado Mustang, received the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Oklahoma State last Saturday.

Robertson threw for 393 yards and four touchdowns in Baylor’s win at Oklahoma State, connecting with four different receivers in the end zone. It was the Bears’ first game in a decade with four different players catching touchdown passes. Robertson has now thrown at least three touchdown passes in five straight games, the longest Big 12 streak since Kyler Murray in 2018.

Robertson continues to play well for Baylor this season and its a shame the Big 12 made the decision to not keep the Texas Tech/Baylor yearly matchup a guarantee.

Robertson and the Bears return to action on Saturday, October 4, when Baylor hosts the Kansas State Wildcats. Kickoff in that matchup is scheduled for 11 a.m.
