LUBBOCK, TX — Just a day after Texas Tech was shut out by Oregon in the College Football Playoffs, Red Raider fans might have something to take some of the sting out of the loss. Brenden Sorsby, quarterback at Cincinnati and the No. 1 transfer prospect in the portal this offseason, announced he is visiting Texas Tech soon.
According to ESPN, Sorsby has visits with Texas Tech and LSU lined up in the near future. At Cincinnati, he threw for 2,800 yards, ran for 580, and accounted for 36 combined touchdowns this year. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Sorsby has thrown for 7,208 yards and 60 TDs in his career, which began at Indiana in 2022. He went to Cincinnati in 2024.
The Red Raiders need a quarterback heading into next season. Behren Morton graduates this year, and backup Will Hammond tore his ACL earlier this season. It is unclear if Hammond will be ready to start next August, and Sorsby has proven to be an electric playmaker under center.
Texas Tech finished with a 12-2 overall record this season with the Red Raiders' first Big 12 Title in program history.
