Two Library Warming Centers Open Monday, City Offices Closed

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Due to continued adverse winter weather and forecasted temperatures expected to drop to minus 5 degrees, the City of Lubbock will be closed Monday, Jan. 26.

All city offices will be closed except for weather-essential employees and departments, city officials said.

Warming Centers

Two Lubbock Public Library locations will remain open Monday as warming centers during their normal operating hours:

  • Mahon Library
    1306 9th St.
    Monday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Groves Library
    5520 19th St.
    Monday: Noon to 9 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to use the warming centers as needed and to limit travel during extreme cold conditions.
