Trash Pickup in Lubbock Delayed

LUBBOCK, TX — Due to continuing adverse winter weather conditions and forecasted temperatures expected to fall to minus 5 degrees, the City of Lubbock Solid Waste Department will delay residential trash collection Monday, Jan. 26.

Residential pickup routes will begin at 9 a.m., city officials said.

The West Texas Regional Disposal Facility, located at 17304 North FM 2528 in Abernathy, will also have a delayed opening at 9 a.m. because of snow accumulation and hazardous road conditions.

The Caliche Canyon Landfill, located at 8425 North Avenue P. in Lubbock, will be closed Monday.

In addition, all site-attended Citizen Convenience Stations and recycling drop-off locations within the Lubbock city limits will be closed for the day.

City officials encourage residents to plan accordingly and limit travel during extreme cold conditions.
