One Killed and Another Injured in Lubbock County Fatal Crash

 

LUBBOCK, TX — One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning at the intersection of U.S. 62 and North County Road 3000, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:05 a.m. under clear weather and dry road conditions.

Investigators said a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage, driven by William Michael Russell Jr., 26, of Lubbock, was traveling southbound on County Road 3000 and failed to yield at a stop sign before entering the intersection.

A 2020 Ford Escape traveling westbound on U.S. 62 collided with the driver’s side of the Mitsubishi.

Russell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, Michael Charles Proa, 55, of Lorenzo, was transported to University Medical Center Lubbock with moderate injuries.

Authorities said the crash remains under investigation.
