LUBBOCK, TX — The City of Lubbock will conduct a monthly test of its Outdoor Warning System on Friday, Aug. 14, at 9:30 a.m.
The test will include a three-minute activation of the city's outdoor warning sirens.
City officials said the activation is only a test and does not indicate severe weather or an emergency in the area.
The Outdoor Warning System is tested on the second Friday of each month. However, the test will be canceled if the National Weather Service forecasts a 10% or greater chance of thunderstorms on the day of the scheduled test. Canceled tests will not be rescheduled.
Additional information about the Outdoor Warning System is available on the City of Lubbock's website.
