HOCKLEY COUNTY, TX — The Texas DPS reported that a Lubbock man was killed in a single vehicle crash early this morning just after 2 a.m.
Jacob David, 35, was driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado eastbound on FM 1585 when he unexpectedly veered across the oncoming lane and into the barrow ditch on the opposite side of the road. David's pickup continued to travel into the adjacent field north of FM 1585 where it eventually rolled over.
David was not wearing a seatbelt, DPS reported. He was ejected from the pickup during the roll and badly injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was dry where the crash happened, about 0.6 miles east of the FM 168 intersection. DPS reported the speed limit was 75 along this stretch of highway.
