Three Identified and Arrested in Clovis Shooting, One Dead

 

CLOVIS, NM — The Clovis Police Department has arrested three individuals and issued an arrest warrant for a fourth in connection with a shooting on November 13 that left one man dead and two others injured. According to a press release, the shooting occurred at around 4:45 p.m. at 2200 Mitchell Street.

According to Clovis Police, officers and emergency medical services responded to reports of a man down in the street with gunshot wounds. When authorities arrived, they found Marcos Ramirez, 26, suffering from severe injuries. Ramirez was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his severe injuries.

Two other victims, Jacob Garcia, 16, and Diego Corona, 16, were also shot. They were initially taken to Plains Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Lubbock, Texas, for further treatment. Their current condition is unknown.

The 9th Judicial District Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation into the incident, which was linked to an attempted robbery. The unit processed the crime scene and a related car crash in the 100 block of John Doe Street.

Clovis Police arrested 15-year-old Gustavo Herrera Jr. on charges of murder, kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, and tampering with evidence. Two additional arrests were made: Jacob Lavato, 16, and Jacob Garcia, 16, were charged with murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit robbery. An arrest warrant has been issued for Diego Corona, also 16, who faces similar charges.
