AUSTIN, TX — Austin police are investigating “multiple incendiary devices” found at a Tesla dealership on Monday morning, March 24, adding to a string of attacks against the company owned by Elon Musk.
According to reports, officers responded to a hazardous materials report at the Tesla dealership on U.S. Route 183, where they discovered the incendiary devices. Austin PD’s Bomb Squad safely took the devices into custody without any injuries or damage.
“This is an open and ongoing investigation, and there is no further information available at this time,” the Austin Police Department said.
This one incident is part of a growing wave of violence and protests targeting Tesla, especially after Musk's involvement with the Trump administration.
Over the weekend, a man drove his car into protesters outside a Tesla dealership in Palm Beach County, Florida, though no one was injured. In California, a counter-protester was arrested for using a stun gun during an anti-Musk protest outside a Tesla dealership in Berkeley, and no injuries were reported either.
Attacks on Tesla dealerships and vehicles have been happening across the U.S., and several Tesla properties, including showrooms, charging stations, and even private cars, have been targeted.
The FBI is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
