"Gossip Girl" Actress Found Dead in NYC Apartment

NEW YORK CITY, NY — Michelle Trachtenberg, the actress best known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, has died at 39.

The New York Police Department confirmed that Trachtenberg was found unresponsive at her apartment in the luxury building One Columbus Place in Manhattan's Central Park South neighborhood around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26.

According to local reports, her mother discovered her in the apartment, and emergency responders declared her dead at the scene. The NYPD confirmed her death, stating that no foul play was suspected and that a medical examiner would determine the cause of death.

It was recently revealed that Trachtenberg had undergone a liver transplant. She also posted several concerning photos on Instagram in recent months, and some fans have expressed worry over her weight loss and health. In response, she reassured followers in January, saying, "I have never had plastic surgery. I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters."

Trachtenberg gained worldwide recognition for her roles as Dawn Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl. She began her career with roles on The Adventures of Pete & Pete and All My Children before moving on to more mature acting projects.

Investigations into her death are still ongoing.
