LUBBOCK, TX — Two local and a Texas chain taco shop received adequate scores in this week’s food inspection results, while 16 restaurants earned top performance scores in the Lubbock area.
Top performers have scores considered 90 and above, while adequate performers score between 80 and 89. Low performers have scores of 79 and below.

Adequate Performers:
It’s Greek To Me at 7006 University Avenue

Violations: 7
- Table-mounted can opener blade, not in immediate use, was visibly soiled.
- Sticker residue was present on the outside of a cleaned metal container. Metal container was stacked such that the outside of the metal container with the sticker residue was in direct contact with the inside of the metal container placed above
- Employee failed to perform a proper hand wash before donning gloves when changing tasks.
- Spray bottle containing a purple liquid was not labeled to identify the contents.
- Rubber spatulas, not in immediate use, were damaged on the food contact surface of the utensil such that it was not maintained in good repair.
- Deflector plate on the ice machine had an accumulation of debris.
- Employee personal phone was placed on top of the prep surface of the prep cooler. Area was not in immediate use.

- Heavily rim/seam dented canned foods stored on can rack with in use canned goods.
- Hand sink in ware wash area blocked by polymer chemical containers.
- Polymer utensils with damaged, chipped, and cracked edges.
- Bulk, packaged uncooked rice stored on floor.
- Raw fish thawing in standing water. Fish <41F.
- Single use articles stored on floor.
- Accumulation of black debris on floor in cabinet under tea dispensers.
- Employee personal drinks stored above prep counter.
Dimba’s at 5010 Quaker Avenue

Violations: 9
- Ice scoop visibly soiled with residue on food contact surface.
- Quaternary test strips expired April 2009.
- Shelf for clean ware storage was visibly soiled with soil and food residues.
- Multiple scoops stored with their handles touching the product, some scoops did not have handles.
- Whisk stored between-use in standing water measuring 80°F.
- Multiple single-service items are being reused throughout the facility including as bulk food containers, scoops, and foil as a liner on shelving.
- Containers of flour and cornmeal not labeled with the common name of the food.
- Employee who has been employed more than 60 days is not food handler certified.
- Handles of equipment including freezers, reach-in coolers, and microwave visibly soiled with heavy accumulation of food residue.
