LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock residents should prepare for continued hot weather, with temperatures expected to soar near or above 100 degrees throughout the week.
The National Weather Service in Lubbock has released a weather forecast predicting high temperatures of up to 103 degrees in some areas, including Childress and Guthrie, on Tuesday, August 13.

On Monday night, temperatures are forecasted to remain warm, with lows ranging from 65 degrees in Muleshoe to 77 degrees in Aspermont. Lubbock itself will experience a low of around 73 degrees.

As the week progresses, the heat will persist, with Lubbock and Plainview expected to reach highs of 98 degrees, while Post, Spur, and Aspermont could see temperatures of 101 to 102 degrees. South winds around 15 mph will provide some relief, but the intense heat will dominate the weather pattern.
By midweek, a change in weather conditions is anticipated as isolated storms may develop on Wednesday and Thursday, particularly across the Caprock and Rolling Plains. A few upper-level disturbances are expected to pass to the north of the forecast area, bringing a chance of isolated storms. These storms will be mainly confined to the Caprock on Wednesday before shifting into the Rolling Plains on Thursday. Despite the storm's chances, temperatures will remain near 100 degrees.
