Severe Thunderstorms Expected Across South Plains

LUBBOCK, TX — Another round of severe weather is expected to develop this afternoon across the South Plains, with storms capable of producing damaging winds up to 90 mph, large hail, tornadoes, and flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Storms will begin forming along the Texas–New Mexico border around 3 to 4 p.m. and track eastward through the evening. The strongest storms are expected to impact the Caprock and parts of the Rolling Plains.

Forecasters say this could easily be a repeat of the previous day’s severe weather, with all hazards remaining in play as the atmosphere remains unstable.
