LUBBOCK, TX — Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across the Caprock and Rolling Plains this afternoon into the evening, with the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and possibly tornadoes.
Today, scattered showers and storms are likely throughout the afternoon. Some of these storms could become severe. Highs will reach the low 80s, with mostly cloudy skies and a steady south-southeast wind around 15 mph. Rain chances sit at 50%, with rainfall between a half and three-quarters of an inch.
Showers and thunderstorms may continue tonight, mainly before 10 p.m. Conditions will gradually clear overnight, with lows around 64°F. Winds will shift slightly but remain out of the southeast, decreasing from 20 mph to around 10–15 mph after midnight. Rain chances drop to 40%.

Severe Weather Outlook: June 5 NWS
Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 90°F. A few storms could develop in the afternoon, with a 30% chance of rain. Some of those storms could once again become severe. Winds will remain out of the south around 10 mph.
Friday night brings another 30% chance of showers and storms before 1 a.m. The low will dip to about 67°F under partly cloudy skies, with a light south-southeast wind.

Severe Weather Outlook: June 6 NWS
Saturday looks to be dry and sunny, with temperatures climbing into the low 90s. South winds will hold steady around 10 mph, offering a break from stormy weather.
Saturday night will be mostly clear with a low near 65°F. Winds will shift to the east at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday will bring another chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with a high again near 93°F. Rain chances increase slightly into Sunday night, with a 40% chance of storms before 1 a.m. The overnight low will be around 62°F under partly cloudy skies.
