LUBBOCK, TX – The National Weather Service has forecasted isolated thunderstorms will be possible across the western South Plains and far southwestern Texas Panhandle through the remainder of the morning. Severe weather is not expected with this morning's round of storms.
It will be mostly sunny with high temperatures near 91 degrees and south-southeast winds at around 10 mph.
Tonight, a chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecasted then showers are likely, and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. with it being mostly cloudy and a low of around 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north after midnight. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
On Friday, forecasts indicate showers and thunderstorms with a high near 80. North-northeast winds are between 5 to 10 mph with a chance of precipitation at 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
Looking ahead, shower and thunderstorm chances will be in the forecast for the next few days into the Labor Day weekend as an upper-level disturbance interacts with moisture across the area and a cold front.
