TOYTAH, TX— The United States Geological Survey reported a 3.5-magnitude quake centered in Toytah, Texas, at around 6:00 a.m. this morning. The shockwaves reportedly reached about 70 miles southeast of the epicenter, from West Texas to Fort Stockton.
While it is not the strongest earthquake in the region's history, a trend of increasing seismic activity in the area has been common in recent months.

One observer noted on X, "Another small earthquake at this spot in Texas to the south of Carlsbad Caverns. I see sections of ground that are falling and cracking."
This latest quake follows a stronger 5.1-magnitude earthquake that rattled West Texas just a month ago, with shockwaves felt as far as the greater Austin-San Antonio area.
Although the 3.5-magnitude tremor can be felt and may cause minor damage, no significant reports of damage have emerged as of Thursday morning.
