LUBBOCK, TX — The weather across the South Plains will remain quiet and calm, with mostly sunny skies on Veterans Day and into the rest of the week.
According to the National Weather Service, expect highs near 73°F with light west winds turning south in the afternoon. Tonight, temperatures will dip to around 45°F under partly cloudy skies.
A slight chance for thunderstorms will develop Tuesday evening ahead of a dry line in the southeast. Tuesday will be partly sunny with highs near 72°F, and winds will be gusty from the south at 5 to 15 mph. By Tuesday night, the skies will clear, temperatures dropping to around 43°F, with winds shifting to the northwest.
A cold front will move through the region early Wednesday morning, bringing cooler air and dropping temperatures to more seasonal norms. Wednesday will be sunny, with a high near 65°F and winds from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Clear skies will continue Wednesday night, with lows around 37°F.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday will be sunny with highs around 73°F and light south winds. Friday night will be mostly clear, with lows around 48°F. Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs near 78°F, and Saturday night will be mostly cloudy with lows around 50°F. On Sunday, there is a 20% chance of showers, with partly sunny skies and highs near 71°F.
