Wet and Windy Today, Warmer Weather Ahead

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Light showers and a Wind Advisory are in effect for the central and southern South Plains today, but temperatures are expected to rise into the high 60s as the week progresses.

According to the National Weather Service, strong west winds of 20-30 mph, gusts up to 40 mph, and scattered morning showers. There's a 50% chance of rain before noon, but conditions should clear by afternoon, with temperatures reaching a high near 64°F.

The weather will calm down tonight, with clear skies and cooler temperatures. Lows will dip to around 41°F, and winds will shift to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph. On Tuesday, the weather will remain pleasant with sunny skies and a high of 63°F. Winds will be lighter, from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday will bring another sunny day with a high near 58°F and a light north-northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday night will be clear with lows around 36°F, and winds will be light, shifting to the southwest.

The weather will be mild and sunny at the end of the week. Friday will be sunny with a high near 65°F, and winds will be light, shifting to the southeast in the morning. Temperatures will drop to around 37°F overnight. Saturday and Sunday are forecast to remain sunny, with highs near 68°F on Saturday and 72°F on Sunday.
