LUBBOCK, TX — A cold front brings cooler temperatures to Lubbock today, with highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s and breezy north winds. Tonight, temperatures will drop near freezing with clear skies and lighter winds. Winds pick up again Tuesday, shifting to the southwest with gusts up to 35 mph, and temperatures will climb into the mid-60s. Stronger winds and a cold front are expected Wednesday, bringing cooler weather for Thanksgiving and into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny, with a high around 53°F and a north-northeast wind at 10 to 15 mph. Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies and a low near 33°F, with light northeast winds becoming southerly after midnight.
On Tuesday, sunny skies and warmer temperatures will bring a high of 63°F. Winds will increase in the afternoon, blowing from the south-southwest at 15 to 20 mph. Wednesday will be even warmer, with a high near 75°F and west winds at 10 to 15 mph.
For Thanksgiving Day, temperatures will drop to a high of 49°F with partly sunny skies and a north-northeast wind at 10 to 15 mph. Thursday night will be cold, with a low near 29°F and light southeast winds shifting to the south after midnight.
There will be partly sunny skies over the weekend, as Friday has a high near 53°F and light south winds. Saturday will be mostly sunny, reaching a high of 58°F and cooling off to around 28°F overnight. Sunday will be cooler, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 49°F.
