LUBBOCK, TX — Showers and thunderstorms are possible across the South Plains region this Wednesday through Friday, with the highest chances on Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, the threat of severe weather remains low, but an elevated fire danger exists today due to dry and warm conditions.
Today, expect sunny skies with a high near 82°F and southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph. It will be mostly clear tonight, with a low of around 48°F and southwest winds continuing at 10 to 15 mph.

Warmer Weather on Monday, March 24
Tuesday will see sunny skies and a high near 87°F, with south-southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to around 51°F and east winds at 10 mph.
On Wednesday, there's a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with mostly sunny skies and a high near 80°F. Winds will be out of the east at 10 to 15 mph, shifting to the south-southeast in the afternoon. Wednesday night, expect mostly cloudy skies with a low of around 54°F and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Thursday brings a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 72°F. South winds of 10 to 15 mph will continue. Thursday night, there’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., with temperatures dropping to around 52°F.

Storm Chances Return Later This Week, Mar. 26-28
The rest of the week looks warm, with more chances for thunderstorms on Friday as a storm system moves in from the west. Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 83°F. Friday night will be mostly clear with a low of around 55°F. Saturday will see sunny skies with a high near 81°F, and Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 77°F.
