LUBBOCK, TX — The weather in the South Plains this week will start mild and sunny and warm up as the week goes on.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny and warmer, with a high near 67° and light north winds between 5 and 10 mph. Tonight, temperatures will drop to around 40°, with mostly clear skies and light winds shifting from the north to the south after midnight.

Warmer Today and Tonight NWS April 7
Tuesday will be a bit warmer, with sunshine and a high of 79°. Winds will pick up from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph. Tuesday night will remain mostly clear, with temperatures cooling to around 48° and winds shifting from the southwest to 10 to 15 mph.
On Wednesday, sunny skies will continue, with a high near 86°. Winds will shift from the south to the north later in the day. Wednesday night will be clear, with temperatures dropping to around 49° and winds coming from the northwest, turning east-southeast after midnight.
Thursday will see a high near 77° with a northeast wind at 10 to 15 mph. Thursday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to around 47° and light east winds between 5 and 10 mph.
Into the weekend, Friday will be sunny with a high near 78°. Friday night will stay mostly clear with a low of around 52°. Saturday will be sunny with a high near 88°, and Saturday night will see mostly clear skies and a low of around 59°.
Sunday will be sunny with a high near 92°, the warmest day of the week.
