LUBBOCK, TX — The National Weather Service forecasts an active weather week for the South Plains, with the potential for severe thunderstorms, including damaging winds and large hail, particularly on Monday and Tuesday.
A cold front moving through the region on Tuesday will bring cooler temperatures and a brief respite from storm activity.
Today will be hot and breezy, with a high near 95°F and a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms developing after 4 p.m. These storms could produce wind gusts up to 75 mph and hail up to golf ball size. Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 1 a.m., with a 60% chance of precipitation.

Thursday will see a couple of showers and a thunderstorm in the morning, with a high near 85°F and a 50% chance of precipitation. Conditions will become breezy with increasing amounts of sun in the afternoon.
Friday will be sunny to partly cloudy and warmer, with a high near 91°F and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Overnight, expect mostly cloudy skies with a low around 69°F.
Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 93°F and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Overnight, conditions will be mostly clear with a low around 67°F.
Sunday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 97°F and no chance of precipitation. Overnight, expect mostly clear skies with a low around 65°F.
