Houston's Mattress Mack Hospitalized for Cognitive Issues

 

HOUSTON, TX – Space City’s famous furniture guy and a high-stakes gambler, Jim McIngvale, better known as “Mattress Mack,” says he’ll be “fine” after checking into a local hospital for “cognitive” issues on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

He shared a video on X, stating he went to the ER at St. Luke’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center and did not know how long he would be hospitalized. 

McIngvale updated his fans and customers on yesterday's X post saying all of the prayers on his behalf are greatly appreciated.

McIngvale has been a staple in the Houston area for over 40 years, making a lasting impact on the local culture through his furniture business, and is beloved by Houstonians and Texans alike for his known for his warm-heartedness and enthusiasm for Houston's sports scene.

At the ripe age of 73, McIngvale is also famous for his high-stakes bets on major sports events, especially involving Texas teams. He scored big by winning over $75 million betting on the Houston Astros to win the 2022 World Series, marking the biggest payout ever in U.S. sports betting history.

Numerous people have shared their best wishes and fast recovery for McIngvale on X, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott and U.S. Congressman Chip Roy.
