LUBBOCK, TX — The Texas Tech Red Raiders will receive national attention this weekend as FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show makes its way to Lubbock. The show will be live across from Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park ahead of the Red Raiders' matchup against the Colorado Buffaloes.
The Red Raiders (6-3) will take on the Buffaloes (6-2), and both teams are still in contention for a spot in the Big 12 Championship.
It’s only the second time a national pregame show has been to Lubbock, the first being ESPN’s College GameDay visit in 2008 when the Red Raiders hosted No. 1 ranked Texas in one of the most memorable games in school history. That game ended with Graham Harrell’s game-winning pass to Michael Crabtree on the sideline in the final seconds.
Although Big Noon Kickoff will be live from Lubbock, the Red Raiders and Buffaloes will not play at 11:00 a.m. FOX typically airs its marquee game in that time slot, but No. 2 Ohio State will take on Purdue in that window this weekend. The Red Raiders vs. Buffaloes game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. CST.
FOX's pregame show airs from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. CST and will be hosted by Rob Stone alongside analysts Mark Ingram II, Matt Leinart, Urban Meyer, and Brady Quinn. This will be the first time Big Noon Kickoff broadcasts from Texas Tech.
Saturday’s game is expected to be an exciting one, being a sellout since early October. Fans should also watch closely as Red Raiders running back Tahj Brooks is just 121 yards away from breaking Texas Tech’s all-time rushing record, set by Byron Hanspard. Brooks has been outstanding this season, rushing for at least 109 yards in every game and averaging 130.8 yards per game.
The Big Noon Kickoff stage is currently being set up across from Rip Griffin Park, though the time for fans to arrive at the event has not yet been announced.
