ABILENE, TX — Frenship gave No. 4-ranked Southlake Carroll everything it could handle Friday, but the Tigers came up just short in a 49-42 loss in a Class 6A Division II area round playoff game at Abilene Christian University's Wildcat Stadium.
Frenship jumped out to leads of 14-0 and 21-7, and the game was tied 28-28 at halftime.
The Tigers continued to trade punches with the Dragons, tying the game a final time at 42-42 on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Holden Phillips to Leyton Stone with 6:35 remaining.
Carroll scored the game-winning TD with 3:18 left on a 1-yard run by quarterback Angelo Renda.
Frenship drove as far as Carroll's 25-yard line with about 1:30 remaining, but the Tigers were unable to get any closer.

Frenship finished its season with a record of 10-2, while Carroll improved to 12-0. The Dragons will move on to play the winner of Hebron and Bowie next week in the regional semifinals.
