It's 806 Day, and There's a Festival in Downtown Lubbock for That

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Today the 8/06/24 or the 6th of August. That means it is "806 Day." To celebrate there is a music festival downtown to celebrate Panhandle musicians who live within the 806 area code.

806 Day celebrates the arts, food, and people who call The Panhandle, West Texas, and The South Plains home. Named after the area code covering from the top of the Texas Panhandle all the way past Lubbock, 806 Day highlights songwriters, bands, music venues, bars, chefs, food trucks, photographers, and artists. 

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, you can celebrate Lubbock's music at three music venues in the Depot District, to include Bodine’s Cocktail Parlor, 1717 Crickets Ave; The Blue Light Live, 1806 Buddy Holly Ave; Tom's Daiquiri Place, 808 Buddy Holly Ave; and Shotgun Sue’s Saloon, 1718 Buddy Holly Ave Unit B.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. Here is the line-up:

Blue Light Live: Casey Cash Heckman, Hub City Drifters featuring Ryan Culwell, Kelly Hastey Music, & Darby Sparkman. The headliner, Seth Ward and the Silence, takes the stage at 10:30 p.m.

Bodine’s Cocktail Parlor: Jenni Dale Lord, Chapter 23 (Junior Vasquez & Mickie Vasquez), and the headliner, Tori Vasquez, who performs agt 9:30 p.m.

Shotgun Sue’s Saloon: Darby Sparkman & JoJo DiSalvo. At 9:30 p.m., Sue's transforms into a karaoke bar where you can sing like an 806 music star.

Tom's Daiquiri Place: Dirk Fowler, Friends’ Barbecue, The Wright House (Kirstyn & William Wright), Big Wick's, New Slang, Matador Mural Team, The Brewery LBK, The Burn Vodka, Zachary Nelson.

Tickets are $40 each for entry into all of the venues. VIP tickets are $80.60 that includes entry into the venues with a One 806 Day T-Shirt, One 806 Day Koozie, Friends BBQ Item, three Drink Tickets (One for each Bodine’s The Blue Light, and Shotgun Sue’s), and a commemorative 806 Day VIP Lanyard.
