LUBBOCK, TX — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of more than 27,000 Tesla Cybertrucks due to a potential problem with the rearview camera.
According to NHTSA's report, Tesla is recalling 27,185 units of its 2024 Cybertruck model after the NHTSA reported that the rearview camera image may be delayed when shifting into reverse. This delay could prevent drivers from seeing what is behind them potentially increasing the risk of a crash.
Additionally, the NHTSA noted in the report that the Cybertruck does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, which pertains to rear visibility.
To address this issue, Tesla has rolled out an over-the-air software update for affected vehicles at no cost to owners. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed out by November 25.
