Crash on Avenue Q and 50th Street Claims Woman's Life

LUBBOCK, TX – The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on December 10 at the intersection of 50th Street and Avenue Q.

At around 1:39 p.m., officers responded to the scene of a collision with injuries. Investigators say Vicki Oglesby, 74, was driving an SUV when she exited a parking lot on the east side of the 5000 block of Avenue Q.

The vehicle traveled west across all lanes of traffic, left the roadway, and struck a vapor light pole and a parked car before coming to a stop in a business parking lot on the west side of Avenue Q.

First responders found Oglesby unresponsive at the scene, and she was transported to University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information is released.
