Fatal Rollover Crash on US 84 Claims Man from Post

 

GARZA COUNTY, TX – A fatal crash on US Highway 84 early Sunday morning has claimed the life of a man from Post, Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety announced in a press release that the crash occurred at 4:54 a.m. on February 2, about a quarter-mile northwest of County Road 150.

The driver, John Vernon Delarosa, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to DPS, Delarosa was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado southeast on US 84 when the truck veered off the road. The vehicle went onto the shoulder, and when Delarosa tried to correct, he lost control.

The truck crossed over both eastbound lanes, the center median, and the westbound lanes before driving into a ditch, where it rolled over. Delarosa was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The road conditions were dry during the crash, and the posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.

DPS is still investigating the cause of the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported.
