LUBBOCK, TX — This week's weather in the South Plains will be mostly warm and dry, with a steady warming trend through Saturday. While most days will stay clear and sunny, there’s a slight chance for isolated storms later in the weekend and into Memorial Day.
According to the National Weather Service, cooler air settles in behind a cold front today, and skies will stay sunny with a high near 81°F. Winds will shift from the north to the west-southwest in the afternoon at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight will remain mostly clear with temperatures dropping to around 55°F and a light south wind.

Wednesday marks the beginning of a warming trend. Expect sunny skies and a high near 92°F, with west-southwest winds around 10 mph. Overnight, conditions stay mostly clear with a low near 61°F.
On Thursday, temperatures continue to climb, reaching a high near 93°F under sunny skies. In the afternoon, winds will shift from the west-southwest to the east-southeast, blowing at 10 to 15 mph. The overnight low will be around 62°F with mostly clear skies.
Friday will be even warmer, with highs near 95°F and plenty of sunshine. South winds between 10 and 15 mph will continue into the evening. The night will be partly cloudy with a low around 68°F.
Saturday looks to be the hottest day of the week, with mostly sunny skies and highs nearing 99°F. South-southwest winds will blow at 10 to 15 mph. Overnight, skies remain partly cloudy with a low around 66°F.
Sunday brings a slight break from the heat, with highs dropping to around 91°F under mostly sunny skies. A slight 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms will move in overnight, with lows dipping to around 58°F.
Memorial Day will carry that same 20% chance of storms, but most of the day is expected to stay mostly sunny with a cooler high near 80°F.
