Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Leads to Arrests in Lubbock

 

LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about the location of a stolen vehicle near East Highway 84 and East FM 1585 early October 24. As deputies were en route, the location was updated to 44th Street and Avenue T.

According to a press release, deputies located the stolen vehicle and attempted to detain its occupants. However, the individuals inside led authorities on a short pursuit before being taken into custody.

The occupants of the vehicle are Robert Barrientos, 35, and Maya Padilla, 18.

Barrientos was charged with several offenses, including Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot, Possession of Identifying Information Less Than Five, and Theft of Property valued between $2,500 and $30,000, Enhanced. 

Padilla faces charges of Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot, Possession of Identifying Information Less Than Five, Theft of Property in the same range, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group One, weighing between 1 and 4 grams.

In addition to recovering the stolen vehicle, deputies and Lubbock Police discovered several items related to ongoing investigations. 

The investigation is ongoing as the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office continues collaborating with the Lubbock Police Department.
