Hobbs Student Arrested for Bringing Pellet Gun to School

HOBBS, NM — Hobbs Police responded to a report of a student with a firearm at Hobbs Freshman School on December 3 at approximately 10:23 a.m.

Officers quickly located the student, and it was determined that the weapon was a pellet gun, not a real firearm.

The student was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Deadly Weapon on School Premises, a fourth-degree felony.

The Hobbs Police Department thanked Hobbs Municipal Schools for their assistance and encouraged parents to continue teaching their children the importance of reporting suspicious activity. The department reminded the community, "If you see something, say something.”

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details about the student have been released.
