UPDATE: The Lubbock Police Department updated the media saying that Robert Cervantes III turned himself in at the Lubbock County Detention Center at 12:35 p.m. today.
LUBBOCK, TX — The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is asking for the public's help in locating 21-year-old Robert Cervantes III, who is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting occurred on November 29 at 1:29 a.m. when police responded to a report of shots fired at CC’s Bar and Grill on 1605 50th Street. Officers found 28-year-old Nick Rodela-Garcia with serious injuries. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say the incident began as a verbal altercation between Rodela-Garcia and Cervantes, which escalated into a fight. During the fight, Cervantes allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Rodela-Garcia.
A murder warrant for Cervantes was issued on December 6. Authorities warn that Cervantes is armed and should not be approached.
