Officers responded around 11:20 a.m. to a domestic violence call at the 1000 block of North Martin Luther King Boulevard on December 6. Police were directed to apartment #35, where they contacted a female resident. During the investigation, officers received information suggesting Zapata, who is wanted on felony charges, had been seen at the location and might be armed.

Clovis Police, with assistance from the New Mexico State Police, secured the perimeter of the residence as officers attempted to make contact with the occupants. After the individuals inside the apartment refused to cooperate, police obtained and executed a search warrant.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., the occupants began surrendering, but Zapata was not among them. Detectives processed the scene, and the apartment was cleared and released.

Zapata remains at large. Authorities have issued a plea for public assistance in locating him.

Anyone with information about Zapata’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Clovis Police Department's non-emergency line at 575-769-1921. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department’s tip411 program at police.cityofclovis.org or to Curry County Crime Stoppers at 575-763-7000.
