LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock-Cooper Independent School District addressed an “unsubstantiated threat” that has been circulating on social media. The threat was reportedly directed toward a "Cooper" campus.
The district clarified on January 28 that it has not been confirmed whether the threat is related to LCISD or another "Cooper" campus in the state.
District administrators immediately contacted multiple law enforcement agencies. According to an email from Lubbock-Cooper ISD, and after a thorough investigation, authorities “determined the threat to be unfounded, and there is no indication of any immediate danger to students or staff members.”
LCISD confirmed that school operations are continuing as usual.
Law enforcement officers are present at all Lubbock-Cooper campuses to ensure the safety of students and staff.
LCISD officials also reminded students and the community that making threats of violence or spreading false information about threats is a crime.
The district stressed that it will take full action against anyone involved in such behavior.
Students and parents are encouraged to report any concerns or information related to threats to school safety to authorities or administration.
