Lubbock ISD Improves State Accountability Ratings

LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock ISD has raised its Texas Education Agency (TEA) academic accountability rating from a “C” to a “B” for the 2025 school year, reflecting districtwide gains in student achievement, academic growth, and progress across campuses.

The TEA’s A-F accountability system, established by HB 22 in 2017, measures three primary areas: student achievement, school progress, and closing the gaps. The goal is to improve student outcomes, provide transparency for familie,s and position Texas as a national leader in preparing students for postsecondary success.

For 2025, more than 58% of Lubbock ISD schools showed growth in student achievement, and 63% of students are enrolled in a campus rated “A” or “B.” Dupre Academy made one of the largest jumps, improving from a “D” to a “B,” while Lubbock High became the district’s first comprehensive high school to earn an “A” rating under the updated accountability system.

Several campuses maintained their top marks, including Honey, Miller, Ramirez, Roberts, Wester, Whiteside, McCool, Lubbock High and Talkington SYWL.

“We are proud of the hard work and success demonstrated by our teachers, staff and students across all campuses,” Superintendent Dr. Kathy Rollo said. “While we are encouraged by the progress, continuous improvement remains our goal. Accountability measures are just one of the tools we use to track our progress, and we remain fully committed to investing in academic growth, supporting our teachers and promoting student well-being.”
