South Plains Fair 2024: Details and What You Need to Know

 

LUBBOCK, TX – The 2024 South Plains Fair is set to take place from September 20 through September 28, marking the 107th annual celebration of the beloved Panhandle tradition.

Fairgoers can look forward to a tempting array of classic fair foods and drinks, including turkey legs, funnel cakes, lemonade, corndogs, and fried Oreos. Over 35 local non-profit organizations will serve these favorites throughout the event.

Before heading to the fairgrounds, here are a few important details to keep in mind:

  • Parking: Plan for parking as it can get busy.
  • Bag Policy: Only clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags are allowed, with a maximum size of 12” x 6” x 12”. Small clutch bags are permitted, but larger purses, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, and binocular cases are not allowed.
  • Security: All bags will be subject to search. Police and security personnel will be on duty every day of the fair.
  • Re-admission: Re-admission is not permitted, so plan accordingly for your visit.

Below are the prices, hours of operation, and special days during the fair week:

Parking: $5.00 per car

Paid Admission and Parking Times:

  • Monday – Friday: 1:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Fair Admission Prices:

  • Adults, 13 and over: $10.00
  • Youth, ages 2 – 12: $5.00
  • Kids, ages 1 and under: Free

Gate Hours of Operation:

  • Sunday – Thursday: 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Fridays: 8 a.m. – Midnight
  • Saturdays: 8 a.m. – Midnight

Carnival Hours of Operation:

  • Monday – Thursday: 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Fridays: 3 p.m. – Midnight
  • Saturdays: 11 a.m. – Midnight
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Special Days During Fair Week:

  • Thursday, September 19th from 6 p.m.-11 p.m.: Buck-A-Ride Night All rides are $1 a piece
  • Sunday, September 22nd Family Day: Kids 17 and under admitted free before 9 p.m.
  • Monday, September 23rd Veterans Day: Any veteran gets in the gate for $5.
  • Tuesday, September 24th Senior Citizen’s Day: Persons 60 or older get in the gate for $5. $2 Tuesday: Each ride is $2 a piece
  • Thursday, September 26th College Night: Present your current college ID and get in the gate for $5. September 26th is also Wristband Day: $40 Wristband to ride unlimited rides from 3 p.m.-11 p.m.
