LUBBOCK, TX — The Buddy Holly Center will take part in Lubbock’s First Friday Art Trail on Oct. 3 with a featured exhibition, Celebración, highlighting the history and meaning of Día de los Muertos.
The First Friday Art Trail, a program of the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA), is held on the first Friday of each month and features galleries, restaurants and businesses across the city opening free of charge to showcase local and regional visual and performing arts.
This month’s event runs from 6–9 p.m. at the Buddy Holly Center, 1801 Crickets Ave. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available. Outside food and beverages will not be permitted.
Celebración is an annual exhibition in the Fine Arts Gallery featuring more than 45 artists who were invited to create works honoring departed family and friends through interpretations of Mexico’s centuries-old Day of the Dead traditions. The colorful exhibit will remain on display through Nov. 16.
