UPDATE: Power Restored to Some Areas After Texas Tech Substation Explosion

 

LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech University reported Thursday morning that power has been partially restored to some areas after a substation explosion on campus caused widespread outages Wednesday evening.

The university confirmed that the campus will stay closed through Thursday and Friday, and spring break has started early because of the incident. Students living on campus will receive additional information regarding housing and dining services.

Everyone in the campus area was asked to avoid the Engineering Key.
