Gov. Abbott Appoints Two TTU System Board of Regents, Reappoints Dusty Womble

AUSTIN, TX — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Doug McReaken of Pearland and Donald R. Sinclair of Houston to the Texas Tech University System (TTU System) Board of Regents, the governor’s office announced Friday. Regent Dusty Womble of Lubbock was also reappointed for another term.

All three appointments are for six-year terms expiring Jan. 31, 2031, and are subject to confirmation by the Texas Senate. Their first board meeting is expected to be held in May.

“I’d like to congratulate our regents on their appointments and welcome them to the TTU System family,” said Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., chancellor of the TTU System. “I am grateful to have the continued leadership of Regent Womble and for the passion each new board member brings to our universities. I look forward to collaborating with them as we continue to grow our dynamic university system, and I also want to thank Chairman Mark Griffin and Vice Chairwoman Ginger Kerrick Davis for their dedicated service to our universities and countless contributions during their time on our board.”

McReaken and Sinclair will replace Mark Griffin of Lubbock and Ginger Kerrick Davis of Houston on the board.

“It has been my distinct honor to serve on the TTU System Board of Regents and, most recently, as chairman in my final years on the board,” said Griffin. “This is a bittersweet moment but one filled with tremendous gratitude. I’d like to thank each of my fellow regents for serving beside me, as well as Vice Chairwoman Ginger Kerrick Davis for her leadership and dedication to our system throughout her term. I also wish to congratulate Regent Womble on his reappointment and welcome our newly appointed regents, who will continue the work to advance our universities and higher education across this region and our great state of Texas.”
