COPPELL, TX – The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in Texas is $2.95, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. The figure below represents a decrease of four cents from the previous week and a reduction of 46 cents compared to the same date last year.
Among major metropolitan areas in Texas, drivers in the El Paso metro area are paying the highest average price at $3.39 per gallon, whereas those in Lubbock are paying the lowest average price at $2.78 per gallon.
On a national scale, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $3.36, which is three cents lower than the previous week and 46 cents less than the same date last year.
The Energy Information Administration has reported lower fuel inventories and estimated that daily fuel demand stands at approximately 9.307 million barrels. With the upcoming holiday weekend expected to drive up fuel demand, price fluctuations may occur.
Daniel Armbruster, a spokesperson for AAA Texas, stated, "The statewide gas price average is 46 cents cheaper heading into this Labor Day compared to one year ago. While fluctuations remain possible due to holiday travel demand, fuel prices are expected to continue on a downward trend as we move into September.”
