Amarillo Resident Wins $1 Million in Mega Millions Lottery

AMARILLO, TX –  In a stroke of good fortune, a resident of Amarillo has claimed a Mega Millions® prize totaling $1,000,002 from the drawing held on July 30, according to a press release. The winning ticket, which secured a second-tier prize, was purchased at Toot’n Totum 3, located at 5409 E. Amarillo Blvd.

The ticket was a Quick Pick, which matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn: 19, 23, 30, 33, and 50. However, it did not match the Mega Ball number, which was 25. In addition to the substantial second-tier prize, the ticket also had an extra $2 win.

The winner has chosen to remain anonymous.

Mega Millions involves selecting five numbers from a pool of 70 and one Mega Ball number from a separate field of 25. To win the jackpot, players must match all six numbers, including the Mega Ball.

Even if players do not win the jackpot, there are other prizes to be won based on the numbers matched.

Currently, Mega Millions offers a starting jackpot of $20 million. Additionally, a second-tier prize (Match 5+0) is worth $1 million. Players can also choose to add the Megaplier feature for an additional $1 per play. This option can multiply non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four, or five times, potentially boosting winnings up to $5 million.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT, providing ample opportunities for players to try their luck.
