LUBBOCK, TX — The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in Texas has risen to $2.81, according to the latest report from AAA Texas. This marks a modest one-cent increase from last week, yet it is still 24 cents cheaper than last year.
Corpus Christi drivers currently pay the highest average of $2.97 per gallon in the major cities surveyed. In contrast, residents in Lubbock, Killeen, Temple, Fort Hood, and Wichita Falls are enjoying the lowest prices, averaging around $2.69.
On the national front, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.20, just one cent lower than last week and 38 cents less than last year.
AAA Texas expects gas prices to settle into the usual fall pattern, assuming significant disruptions, like hurricanes, do not happen. While some areas still see slightly elevated prices due to Hurricane Milton, savings should be on the horizon as the nation transitions to cheaper winter-blend gasoline.
“Gas prices should start to follow the typical autumn trends,” said Daniel Armbruster, a spokesperson for AAA Texas.
“We usually see them trending lower with the switch to the winter-blend fuel.”
